About The South West Shore Development AuthorityThis website was produced by the South West Shore Development Authority, in co-operation with our municipal partners. The South West Shore Development Authority was incorporated in 1995 as one of the 13 Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) throughout Nova Scotia. It is the economic development organization for nine municipal units in Shelburne and Yarmouth counties and the Municipality of Clare. The authority’s mandate is to lead the regional economic development process, support community partners, promote business investment and execute a strategic plan. A Board of Directors has been drawn from throughout the region and includes senior elected officials, the private sector and representatives from business organizations and government departments who have a significant partnership with the authority. There are fourteen voting members on the Board; nine of whom are approved by the nine municipal units in the region; one from each unit. The other five business community voting members are approved as follows: three by the Yarmouth Area Industrial Commission, one by the five Shelburne County municipal units and one by the Municipality of Clare. Elected representatives serve only while they are in office. SWSDA has been mandated by the Municipalities of Clare, Yarmouth, Argyle and the Town of Yarmouth to lead tourism development in Yarmouth & Acadian Shores.
