Paint by the Sea
Contact: Peter Devine
Civic Address: 362 Cape Saint Mary Road, Cape Saint Mary, Nova Scotia
Phone: (212) 678-0240
Whether you wish to paint the sea, the cliffs or the sea worn buildings of Cape St. Mary, Nova Scotia, you'll have a chance to develop your interpretation with the assistance of Peter Devine.
Peter, a resident of both the US and Canada, dedicates himself entirely to painting. Beyond winning a number of artist awards, he has exhibited from New York to California, most recently at Noel Fine Art in Tuckahoe, New York. His work is in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Europe.
Peter will be running 4 workshops this summer from his studio at the ocean's edge in Cape St. Mary. The coast with its beach, cliffs, wharf and sea will provide the subject matter. Technically, these five day workshops will focus on making clear transparent overlays, creating texture with dry brush and wet-on-wet mehtods, and building strong compositions with color. Learning to depict what you see will be emphasized.
The 2011 schedule:
Session I: July 11-15
Session II: July 18 - 22
Session III: July 25 - 29
Session IV: August 1 - 5
The daily schedule is 9am to 4pm.
Price: $560 per 5-day session and includes lunch daily. A $100 non-refundable deposit will hold your place. The studio is equipped with tables and drawing boards. If painters opt not to bring their own materials, paint sets and brushes may be rented and paper may be purchased.
Planning your trip and Staying at Cape St. Mary:
Peter has partnered with several inns and other places to stay, which will suit a broad range of tastes. They are listed on the website. For more information write devine2@earthlink.net or call 212-6778-0242.
