Lennie Gallant Live
Lennie Gallant has released thirteen albums (10 in English and 3 in French) of original songs which have won him a host of awards and nominations from the JUNOs and Les Prix Eloizes. He’s received a Canadian Folk Artist of The Year Award as well as 19 East Coast Music Awards, including the 2017 ECMA Entertainer of the Year. Gallant’s live double CD from his multimedia hit production, Searching For Abegweit, also won him an ECMA. The musical ran for 175 shows and toured the East coast. His Maritime classic “Peter’s Dream” was voted one of the Top Ten East Coast Songs of all Time and was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame at the 2019 East Coast Music Awards.
A recipient of the Order of Canada, Lennie is a touring artist who has performed all over Canada, the US, Europe, for the troops in Afghanistan, and at the Winter Olympics. He has toured with Symphony Nova Scotia, Symphony New Brunswick and with Symphony PEI. He has shared the stage with such artists as Lucinda Williams, Patti Griffin, Roger Hodgson, and has performed with Jimmy Buffett and David Foster and his band. His songs have been covered by numerous artists and have appeared in feature films and TV shows. One of his albums, “When We Get There”, even went up to the International Space Station with Canadian Astronaut Julie Payette (now the Governor General) for the crew to enjoy and orbited the planet 248 times. How about that for high rotation!
Fresh on the heels of his 2017 ECMA wins, Gallant found himself in the studio to record his critically acclaimed album, Time Travel. The album features guest appearances by Mary Jane Lamond, Rose Cousins, Jenn Grant, and The Atlantic String Machine, among others. The album made the 2018 Top Ten Folk Albums of the year list by a collection of music industry reviewers and has three 2020 Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, including Contemporary Album, English Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year. His new song Sequoia, in particular, gets a lot of attention and is a celebration of strength and renewal in nature, but also a plea to the world to be more in touch with the enduring spirit of these great elders in our fragile forests.
Lennie Gallant has been involved in various charity events and fundraisers, and he recently received the PEI Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year Award for his efforts.
