Living Wharves
Living Wharves is designed to tell the story behind the seafood from Yarmouth & Acadian Shores – home to one of Canada’s largest fisheries. Over 40 species of fish are harvested from our shores, and thousands are employed in this industry. Most people have a “fish story” or two to tell, and they want to share it with you.
Join both active and retired fishermen (and women) at community wharves throughout the region to learn their stories and try your hand at fishing skills. Hear about storms and working conditions, bravery and skills. Try your hand at splicing (braiding) rope and tying knots. It’s much harder than it looks, and a lot of fun to try!
Living Wharves Fishing Experiences take place from 1:30pm – 4:00pm AST (July 1st to September 15th)
